  • Society of St. Andrew: Create a list of produce items most commonly used by SoSA in Tennessee detailing their seasonality and sourcing options. Create a list of suppliers and agency partners giving their names, contact information, location, gleaning process, the capacity to give or receive, and how SoSA knows the organization. Send out a survey to agency partners to receive feedback on SoSA’s efficiency and effectiveness. Build a map showing locations of involved organizations so that suppliers and customers can connect with nearby agencies. The hope for this map was to ultimately improve the organization’s gleaning efficiency since it often has little to no lead time.

  • Tennessee Dept. of Agriculture: Create a Supply Chain Playbook for the 2021 Meat Processing industry in Tennessee to close gaps in the supply chain and improve the overall process. Determine missing links in Tennessee’s local meat sales during our focus on meat processors. Measure success of 2020 support for meat processing projects to better gauge supply chain impact. Implement benchmarking for industry leaders.

  • Food 4 All: Identify suppliers and map the logistics route. Create a pickup strategy. Determine program requirements such as the vehicle, necessary equipment, and personnel. Perform a cost/benefit analysis to help justify the implementation of the program and grant writing.

  • Second Harvest of East TN - Warehouse Analysis: Create a value stream map of current operations with Second Harvest. Identify constraints and bottlenecks through a fishbone diagram and analyze the value stream map. Benchmark all processes within the warehouse against industry standards. Proposed New Strategies.

  • Second Harvest of East TN - Transportation Analysis: To optimize the transportation network of both Chattanooga area food banks and Second Harvest of East Tennessee. Analyse the network to make decisions to Lease or Buy vehicles. Understand optimal vehicle holding time to ensure proper use of the vehicle. Analyse the network of pantry’s to develop optimal delivery zones. Save the two food banks money in terms of logistic operations.

  • Second Harvest of East TN - Network Analysis: To figure out the existing DC’s current and future capabilities. To determine the optimal number and location of DC’s around the 18 counties that Second Harvest of East Tennessee serves. To determine the costs and benefits of relocating or adding DCs.
